Meeting Maker FAQ

Meeting Maker FAQ

Can I still use Meeting Maker?

Yes. Meeting Maker will continue to be active while everyone gets comfortable using Google Calendar. We will work with faculty and staff to determine a shutdown date for Meeting Maker after everyone has been migrated and has had an opportunity to work with Google Calendar.

Will you migrate my meetings from Meeting Maker to Google Calendar?

The process of migrating meetings and appointments from Meeting Maker to Google Calendar is not one that can be reliably automated without potentially losing data and event functionality. Once you have been migrated to Google Apps, you will need to manually re-create any recurring meetings and appointments in Google Calendar. We estimate this will take no more than an hour, even for those with complex recurring meetings. The Service Desk and migration team are also here to help you with the transition, and there are step-by-step directions for re-creating both one-time events and recurring events below.

How do I re-create a single event in Google Calendar?

  1. In Google Calendar, there are several ways to create an event:

    1. For simple events that only require a title and start and end times:

      1. Click directly on the calendar at the time you want the event to start.

      2. Drag down until the time you want the event to end.

      3. Give your event a name and select a calendar to add the event to.

      4. Click Create Event to finish creating your event.

    2. For more complex events that might require guest lists, room resources, locations, etc.:

      1. Click on the red Create button in the upper left-hand corner of the Google Calendar screen.

      2. Fill in details such as start and end times, guests or room resources, attachments, locations, and which calendar the event should be added to.

      3. When you are finished click Save.

How do I re-create recurring events in Google Calendar?

  1. To re-create a recurring event in Google Calendar:

    1. Click on the red Create button in the upper left-hand corner of the Google Calendar screen.

    2. Fill in details such as start and end times, guests or room resources, attachments, locations, and which calendar the event should be added to.

    3. Check the Repeat... checkbox.

    4. Select how often you want the event to repeat (e.g. weekly, daily, monthly, etc.).

      1. If needed, set the repeating interval (e.g. you can set an event to occur every two weeks, or every other day).

      2. If needed, choose a specific pattern of days by checking off days from the “Repeat on” option.

    5. Select an end date for the event to stop repeating. Events can be set to stop repeating after a set number of occurrences, or on a specific date.

  2. When you are finished click Done.
