Google Apps Training

Google Apps Training

To help make your transition to Google Apps as smooth as possible, we have prepared a number of resources to help you familiarize yourself with Google Apps. We will also be holding in-person training sessions throughout the migration process. Click the links below for more details about training options.

Preparing For Migration

There are a couple of things you can do to prepare for the migration. These include cleaning up old email folders. If you have email from several years stored on your computer, this is a great opportunity to get rid of old emails and files you no longer need. If you have questions about how to do this, please contact us. To get an idea of how your folders will work after they are migrated, check the Gmail Labels/Folders FAQ. If you want to know more about the Simmons College email retention policy, please visit the Simmons College Policy Index (http://simmons.edu/policies/index/index.php) or contact the College Archivist, Jason Wood.

Quick Start Guides

These quick start guides are intended to provide an overview of each Google Core App, explain basic functionality, and help you get set up and ready-to-go as quickly as possible.

These guides can also be accessed from the sidebar to the left under the "Google Quick Start Guides" heading.

In-Person Training

We will also be offering in-person, drop-in training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Most of these sessions will cover Gmail and Google Calendar, though sessions on Thursday afternoons will cover additional Google Apps, such as Drive, Groups, Sites, and more.

These sessions are do not require any sort of reservation and you can come before or after you've been migrated, so feel free to come whenever is most convenient for you.
