  1. Enable IMAP in your Gmail settings:
    1. Sign in to Gmail.
    2. Click the gear icon  in the upper right, then select Settings.
    3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
    4. Select Enable IMAP.
    5. Click Save Changes.
  2. Visit preferences.simmons.edu and change your password. You can choose a new password or re-enter your current password. This is a necessary step before setting up your mobile device.
CONFIGURING YOUR IPHONE:
  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Select Add Account...
  4. Select Exchange.
  5. Enter your Simmons email address and password, and a description for the account and select Next.

Please note that to configure your email, you will need to use the "username@simmons.edu" version of your email address, and not the firstname.lastname@simmons.edu" version.

  6. On the next screen, fill in the following information:
    1. Server: m.google.com
    2. Domain: <leave blank>
    3. Username: <enter your Simmons username@simmons.edu>
    4. Password: <enter your Simmons password>
  7. Select Next.
  8. Select which items to sync.

Please note that if you chose to sync Contacts, you will be prompted to decide what to do with your existing (phone) contacts. The best practice is to choose Keep on My iPhone. You will need to do this twice in a row, since the system will warn you after the first choice that doing so may cause you to have duplicate entries on your phone.

  9. Select Save.
CONFIGURATION FOR MULTIPLE CALENDARS:
  1. By default, setting up your iPhone with the above settings will only sync your primary Google Calendar. In order to sync multiple calendars, you will need to disable calendar syncing with the account you set up in the previous instructions and set up a separate account for syncing your calendars.
  2. To disable calendar syncing on your existing account:
    1. Open the Settings app on your device.
    2. Go into Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    3. Select the account you set up in the previous instructions, and turn the toggle for syncing Calendars to OFF.
    4. You may be asked if you wish to delete all Gmail calendars from your iPhone.
    5. Select Delete from My iPhone.
  3. Go back to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  4. Select Add Account...
  5. Select Gmail.
  6. Enter your account information:
    1. In the Name field, enter your name as you'd like it to appear to others.
    2. In the Email and Password fields, enter your Simmons email address and password.

Please note that to configure your email, you will need to use the "username@simmons.edu" version of your email address, and not the firstname.lastname@simmons.edu" version.

    3. Enter a description for the account (e.g. "Simmons Google Calendar").
    4. Select Next at the top of your screen.
    5. Make sure the Calendars sync option is set to ON and that the Mail and Notes sync options are turned OFF.
    6. Select Save.
  7. Next, from your computer, go to the following link:

    https://www.google.com/calendar/hosted/simmons.edu/syncselect

  8. Select the calendars you'd like to sync and then click Save.
  9. The selected calendars will be displayed on your device at the time of the next sync.
